When it’s off, it’s jus’ off

You know it when you can’t get the best out of yourself, you know it when you keep on designing and never get satisfied with it. You know that you need a little change to get out of the daily routine and come out like fireworks. A muse? Something/someone/somewhere to inspire you? Someway to refresh that is.

It often happens when you’ve streamlined your processes, got your mind on reaching deadlines before time does, you lose some, and you win most of the time. Then you look back and see everything’s been going in an arranged circle, find out further, your social life goes the same way!

A lot has been written about how to keep yourself creative, motivated, and fresh all the time. But do you really need to read something about it? You know it when it happens to you, and you know exactly what is missing. All one needs is the first step in doing it and that’s the catch, one often gets tangled and caught up within his/her own traps, work, commitments, and different goals.

To me, it’s been about breaking free from all that, so hard to do. Now add a start-up-live to that and you’ll get a workaholic person.

Understanding the Context, Common Sense

Posted: July 10th, 2007 | Author: dotblack | Filed under: Art, Web-Design | 2 Comments »

Visual Design in general is all about common sense and solving a communication problem, simply, communicating and getting the message home. Some do it in extraordinary ways, some keep it simple, and it all depends on the subject and the audience. But wait! Designing websites that are to be serving points and an interface to a worldly organization can’t be done with having the home page full of flashy animation fading photos chosen(not taken) from a photo stock CD/Website. It’s about serving the visitor with information.

Having my design hat on, looking at Saudi’s World Trade Centre, to my amazement, a multi level menu system for you to find your way, instead of using the homepage as your index to the whole site. In short: no IA design.

Okay, hold on, that’s a rip alarm screaming!

We strive, your business thrives

Rings the bells?

It’s not about showing how good you can pickup photos, or how good you can rip slogans. It’s about communicating a purpose and that purpose is not “Showing that you can design”, it’s “Getting the message home!”.

Enough ranting for today.

On Art and being a Persian

Posted: March 25th, 2007 | Author: dotblack | Filed under: Art, Personal | Comments Off

Tololy posted a great number on Iman Maleki’s realism art and gallery online. When I read the post, there was two kinda’ mixed feelings that I had. One, I’m ashamed that I’ve never heard of the Artist even though he’s Persian, second, I’ven’t gone for galleries and art exhibitions for years.

I don’t want to post about a post or repost about a topic, so head to Tololy’s post for info about the Art and the artist.

While browsing Iman’s website

A great feeling, once I turned the site in the Farsi version it felt so good to navigate and read all in Farsi. I haven’t had this experience before on a Microsite as Iman’s. It’s a great feeling. Ease of understanding on the first nature, not the second.

Other than that, I haven’t read anything in Farsi for long long time, cool thing, thanks tol.
