dotShow gets unlucky again

Posted: November 5th, 2006 | Author: dotblack | Filed under: Podcasting, dotShow | Comments Off

My web-host acts funny as the date for dotShow is passed once again. Dramhost has been troublesome and a lot of hassle lately that I’m considering moving out all my websites from their boxes. I just got dotShow’s dedicated website up once again, which is another blow to the show. It’ll be up and I’ll announce it as soon as it is a real go. My apologies, once again.

iToot interview & bloging Misc

Posted: July 8th, 2006 | Author: dotblack | Filed under: Podcasting, dotShow | 2 Comments »

Seems like I never posted this. Last week, well two weeks ago I recorded the first episode of dotShow and featured an interview with the team behind iToot.net. If you haven’t heard the show, then check it out here.

What I noticed on Toot is the lack of commercial blogs. That made me search for some. I was shocked by the low level of adoption of commercial bloging in the Middle Eeast.

So I’m thinking, is it the adoption nature that it’s all about time, or just the nature of closed-ended business in the Middle East. Lately the only ad/online agency that I read their blog was under a childish attack in forums and blogs. The agency used WordPress as their CMS and sold it to clients as the tool for managing content without mentioning the whole story behind the CMS. Anyway, thank god they had a blog and that could open up doors and ways for communicating the issue and solving it up. It works!

Okay, I think I’m taken in dwwen. So searched for commercial blogs there too, to no avail.

Or maybe it’s not the right time to talk about commercial blogs in the Middle East?

How much I wished Etisalat had a blog. At least when they blocked Flickr we could ask and get a PR from a proper representative.

Etisalat, please, get us a blog, get us a human being that posts and answers. We have loads of questions and feedback! Didn’t you just say REACH?

What’s RocketBoom? Nothin’

Posted: July 5th, 2006 | Author: dotblack | Filed under: Personal, Podcasting | 4 Comments »

First was TechCrunch with the announcement . Then comes every blog on my reader. Well, not a follower of RocketBoom, it’s a Vlog that is apparently followed by thousands around the world. It’s a plain flat show! So what if it’s on Tech? It’s a blond story.

After digesting the announcement on TC, I was curious to know who’s who. Digged for some shows on their website, I’m disgusted! I don’t know how can people watch that crap. Okay, so was there a blond. Mike Davidson says she’s hot and that’s what kept 250K people following the show.

VERY fake facial expressions, overdone with face and tone. What’s all that about, who in tech would like that? So why the publicity, really? Talk about earthy shows like DL.TV. When a blond makes a move, makes the move! Everyone gotta’ watch.

Would you like a hottie jumping left and right, while watchin’ a cool show that is all tech-excitement and news? Is that supposed to be fun? I don’t know. I wouldn’t mind it, but not like RocketBoom ! Way overdone.

It’s alotta’ fun!

Posted: June 28th, 2006 | Author: dotblack | Filed under: Podcasting, Site-News | Comments Off

Podcasting, oh man, I didn’t know it could be this much fun. Being a reporter is not bad at all, it’s a lot of fun. May be the first time since it’s a new thing? I’m just lovin’ it, for real. Just finished producing the first episode of the dotShow that I’ll air on July 1st and I had so much fun doing that.

What I did

I freaked out. I backed off and changed my mind. I bought an expensive USB microphone and tried my voice, wasn’t that bad, got some hope. Read a podcasting 101 and my fav podcaster’s article ; hey, I can do that! Made a list of hot topics and people that I wanna’ talk to. Recorded some more of my voice saying whatever. I was ready. Gave it a lot of time. Had more fun. It’s now done! I want more.

What I used

While I had a good set of audio editing software such as Sony Sound Forge 8.0 and Adobe Audition I was shocked by the existense of a proper open source audio editing software: Audacity. I mainly used Audacity for editing this time and for interview recording used Skype and Total Recorder.

What you have to do

Get yourself geared with the show feeds. Get hooked up to dotShow RSS feeds for your podcatchers.
